The Department of Defense announced today its recruiting and retention statistics for the active and reserve components for the month of January.
· Active Duty Recruiting.
· January Monthly. All services met or exceeded recruiting goals for the month of January (below) and have surpassed goals for fiscal 2008 to date.

· Active Duty Retention. The Army and Marine Corps are exceeding their year-to-date retention missions. Navy is at 98 percent retention in the aggregate, Air Force is at 91 percent, and both are on track to meet the year end mission goals.
· Reserve Forces Recruiting.
· January Monthly. Four of the six reserve components met or exceeded their accession goals for January 2008; however, all six have made their goals for fiscal 2008 to date.
