The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Josiah H. Vandertulip, 21, of Irving, Texas, died Oct. 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his dismounted patrol came under enemy fire. Vandertulip was assigned to the 2^nd Battalion, 7^th Cavalry Regiment, 1^st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
